Wikis for Community-Defined Skills Frameworks

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The Open Recognition working group of the Open Skills Network (OSN) is identifying cases in which worker-learners acquire skills from nontraditional job settings and learning experiences to recognize their legitimacy.

As part of our work, we've identified needs for:
  1. Openly licensed skills frameworks
  2. Accessible tools for authoring skills definitions.
Wikis are mature, easily-accessible tools for collaborative authoring and openly licensed content, with established conventions/rules for social collaboration. In addition, skills defined in a wiki are easily converted to machine-readable formats, e.g., Rich Skill Descriptors (RSDs).

This session will introduce a new category of Badge Wiki for using and editing openly licensed skills frameworks, demonstrating how badge system designers can contribute and collaborate for increased impact.
